Life skills classes
Hello, everyone, welcome back to Classroom 2.0. This is the blog where we talk about things that need to change within our schools. Over the next few weeks, we will talk about multiple issues, but they all have one thing in common: improving the educational environment.
On this week’s blog we are talking about Life skills classes. Life classes are classes that are going to help the students when they graduate high school. Such as time management, money management, housekeeping, communication, positive self- image development, growth mindset and self-improvement and stress management. Just imagine just graduating high school and not knowing anything about doing things them self. In my class there were a bunch of students that did not balance a check book. The only reason I knew is because my dad works at a bank. Teaching life skills is critical because it will help the student in the long run. Learning life skills will help the people understand what they want out of life and who they are. By teaching them the life skills they will be able to learn how to effectively manage money. Credit card companies target college freshman with their free sign up. With that and student loans on top of that they will be in a lot of debt. When students graduate most of them don’t know how to cook because their parents do it for them. On campus some cafeterias don’t do supper and also some might not cook on the weekend. The student must be able to cook because going out and getting fast food will not look good on your bank account.
